Validations and recognition of prior learning (RPL)

At GUTEC University, you can have your prior learning—academic, professional, and non-formal—recognized to fulfill course requirements in your program. The goal is to avoid duplication, optimize your investment, and accelerate your academic progress, while always ensuring that the degree’s learning outcomes are met.

What RPL is and what it isn't.

RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is the process by which an academic committee assesses whether your prior education, professional experience, or certifications are equivalent to the learning outcomes of one or more modules in the program.

Scope and Limits of the RPL.

The exact limit and the “non-transferable” modules are listed in each program’s description.

What can be identified? (types)

Formal education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, architecture, technology, science, or related fields.
Courses/modules from other institutions (syllabi, hours, content, assessment).

Non-formal learning

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit dolor
Corporate training courses, boot camps, industry certifications.

Informal learning / Experience

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit dolor
Years of experience and deliverables that demonstrate expertise: plans, models, reports, studies, scripts, and other documents.

Accepted forms of evidence (and how to prepare them).

Impact of RPL on duration, itinerary, and price

Duration: You can reduce your course load and move on to subsequent modules (depending on the schedule).

Curriculum: The program has been restructured while retaining all prerequisites and the capstone project in its entirety.

Precio: el total disminuye proporcionalmente a los módulos convalidados (después se aplican becas/ descuentos).

Certification: The diploma reflects the entire program; RPL is not listed as a “mark” on the diploma, but it is included in your academic record.

Yes: it reduces the number of hours/credits and the cost, while keeping the non-transferable modules.

You can check eligibility, but a formal evaluation requires that you have been admitted or are in the final stages of the admission process.

We recalculate the balance and adjust the payments or refund the difference as specified in the contract.

Please submit them in an anonymized format with sufficient context. We can sign a confidentiality agreement if necessary.

There may be an administrative fee per evaluation (see offer). This fee is non-refundable if the result is negative.
